Biography

Rita Mayfield is currently serving her third term as State Representative of the 60th District.

Rep. Mayfield is committed to serving the needs of our children through stronger education and affordable health care and improving the lives of all residents of the 60th District. Her legislative priorities include improving the quality of education throughout Illinois, expanding access to quality health care, promoting small business and economic development, and creating opportunities to reduce recidivism.

Mayfield has pledged to support measures that control unfunded mandates on local schools, provide a more equitable way to fund schools, and improve curriculum. She is working to ensure that students have guaranteed access to safe and nurturing learning environments.

Rep. Mayfield has served as the Vice President of the Waukegan Board of Education, member of the Waukegan Schools Foundation Board, volunteer financial instructor for Habitat for Humanity, and founding member of Citizens Organized for School Leadership Accountability (COSLA)

Mayfield received her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Columbia College and her Master of Science in Management and Organization Behavior with an emphasis in Organization Development from Benedictine University.

Mayfield lives in Waukegan with her son and daughter.

The 60th District includes portions of Beach Park, Gurnee, North Chicago, Park City and Waukegan.
