Fran Hurley is serving her first term as state Representative of the 35th District, which includes all or portions of Alsip, Merrionette Park, Oak Lawn, Orland Hills, Orland Park, Palos Heights, Palos Park and Worth. It also includes the Chicago neighborhoods of Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park.

As an active community volunteer and a mother who has worked two jobs to send her children to college, Fran will use her experiences to find common-sense solutions to our state's challenges. Fran understands that these tough economic times have put a strain on family budgets. That is why providing tax relief will be her top priority in Springfield. She is fighting to pass a new law that would freeze property taxes when home values decline.

Prior to taking office, Hurley served the community as a top aide to Aldermen Ginger Rugai and Matthew O'Shea. During this time, Fran helped provide exceptional constituent services to the residents of the 19th Ward. As state representative, she will continue to enthusiastically advocate for the needs of the 35th District.

Fran will work to attract new businesses to our region to create jobs for local residents. She believes government must explore new, more efficient ways to deliver services and eliminate expensive layers of bureaucracy. Fran believes that strong schools are the backbone of every community and that more must be done to improve public education in Illinois.

Through civic involvement, Fran will work to build stronger communities and create greater opportunities for all. She has been an active part of the Saint Christina Parish, Mount Greenwood Civic Association, and Y-Me Women's Softball Tournament. She is the former director of the Saint Christina Manna Program and has volunteered her time with the Ronald McDonald House at Christ Hospital, Misercordia, Bucks for Burn Camp, Kiwanis Club, PADS, Merrionette Park Youth Softball, and numerous local family benefits. In 2006, Fran received the Outstanding Leadership Award from the Mount Greenwood Civic Association.

Fran is a graduate of Saint Barnabas Elementary School, Mother McAuley High School, and Saint Xavier University. She lives in Mount Greenwood with her three children, Nate, Nick, and Emily Dorgan. They are members of Saint Christina Parish.
