Biography
La Shawn K. Ford, an energetic community activist and entrepreneur, has lived in the 8th Representative District for more than 30 years. Ford received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Loyola University in Chicago, which he used to help children as a history teacher and basketball coach for Chicago Public Schools. After his time as a teacher, he founded Ford Desired Real Estate, which has grown into a successful company that provides jobs for many local residents.
Fords agenda for the people of the 8th District includes an emphasis on improved educational opportunities, better medical and mental health care, and economic development. He will also directly involve the people of the district through public forums and town hall meetings and will work to ensure his constituent service office is open, accessible and responsive.
