Monique Davis serves as State Representative of the 27th District, representing parts of the Chicago neighborhoods of Beverly, Chatham, Morgan Park, Roseland, Washington Heights and West Pullman, and portions of the suburban communities of Alsip, Blue Island, Crestwood, Orland Park, Palos Heights and Robbins.

A former teacher and administrator in the Chicago Public Schools, Davis is committed to strengthening the education our children receive. Despite the state's tough fiscal challenges and tough state budget cuts, Davis has worked to increase funding for elementary and high schools. She knows more work must be done, but her demands to not leave our students behind avoided devastating cuts to education across the state. To help give children the resources they need to succeed, Davis helped to pass a new law to guarantee more state funding for early childhood education programs for children ages birth to 3.

Davis believes we need to do more to improve the security of our children and families. Violence in our communities has made local residents fearful to even leave their homes. This is unacceptable. Davis has worked to get tough on gun crime by voting to ban deadly assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.

Davis continues her active involvement with several community and charitable organizations. She is a member of the NAACP, Operation Push, Phi Delta Kappa, Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago Urban League and Beverly Area Planning Association. Davis also served as a coordinator for the Chicago Board of Education and a training specialist with the Chicago City Colleges.

Davis received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Chicago State University. She holds a bachelor's degree in Education and a master's in Guidance and Counseling. In addition, Davis has earned 42 additional graduate credit hours in Administration Supervision and Special Education from the University of Illinois, Roosevelt University, National Lewis University, and DePaul.

Davis is a lifelong resident of Chicago and a mother of two.
